The Two Faces of a Heavy Snowfall

Yes, it all looked good from the start....

But then there was the reality of it all... the cold, the wind, an
d of course the chore of installing tire chains to say nothing about the shoveling of the driveway!!!!

But let's face it, there are a lot of fun things do in the snow as well.

Snow Is Here....BIG TIME

Wow. I guess sometimes you get what you wish for. Last weekend, Mari and I were hit with a blizzard. The largest snow storm in like 10 years. The skies dumped more than 2 feet of fresh snow. We were snowed in for a full day while we tried to dig our car out. Still, we had a great time. Mari built a couple of real snow men! We sipped hot buttered rum while we watched the roaring fire and the snow fall and fall and fall!

Check out the time lapsed photos below of the picnic table in front of the cabin. This was in a period of 6 hours.

Christmas Lights Are Hung For Our First Big Bear Christmas

The truth is that I am not a very traditional person. This is especially true when it comes to holidays. I mean if you want a pumpkin, fine get a pumpkin; you want to give me a Valentine, that's cool; you want a Christmas tree and lights, whatever! But Mari is really emotional about these things. So true to form, she went out and bought some lights for the house and while I sat and read a book, she was up on a ladder hanging the twinkling blue, white and red Christmas lights. When she was done, you know what? I was really happy and impressed! Check it out!
